The Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) aims to help dismantle the impacts of systemic anti-Black racism by allocating resources to community organizations that undertake initiatives that impact the quality of life in Canada’s Black Communities. The focus area for the 2022 BOF Grants Program will be Black-led. Black-serving and Black-focused for not-for-profits and charities leading impactful initiatives in the areas of Education and Health.

Two Streams include:

Education:

  • Digital access/communication across Canada that connect Black educators, parents, and kids
  • Peer to peer mentorship programs
  • Educational Resources
  • Culturally focused programming

Health:

  • Implicit bias training
  • Accountability for health inequities faced by Black Canadaians
  • Social isolation / mental health

Eligibility: Applicants may be:

  • Black-led (~2/3 of leadership) and black-serving
  • A registered Canadian not-for-profit organization or charity
  • Must have an existing project in the areas of education or health
  • Must have an online web presence
  • Must be able to show up-to-date financial statements
  • Must be able to provide a project budget for the initiative for which funding is sought
  • An organization cannot have any outstanding tax debt
  • An organization cannot have declared bankruptcy
