This additional emergency funding will help to ensure continued access to food for people experiencing food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Priorities
- All funding must be dedicated to ensuring continued access to food for people experiencing food insecurity during COVID-19
- Support purchases of food/costs associated with the distribution of food in an emergency context
- Projects should occur between April 2022and September 30, 202
Eligible Applicants
- Provincial associations
- Affiliate food banks (member of a provincial association)
- Agencies of affiliate food banks (agency of a food bank)
- Food banks and food security organizations located in a territory (NT, NU, YT)
- Non-affiliate food banks will be considered if they aren’t eligible for other funding opportunities (see below)
- Priority will be given to organizations that are led by and/or primarily serving black, Indigenous, and Persons of Colour
- Food banks and other food security organizations that are incorporated as a non-profit entity or whose application is being sponsored by an incorporated non-profit entity
Eligible Expenses
- Food and meals (bulk food purchases, gift cards, vouchers)
- Food distribution expenses, including:
- Wages (i.e., hiring additional staff to help manage increased needs)
- Capital investments
- Transportation
- Storage
- The purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE)
