The Food Security Capital and Innovation Fund has been established for not-for-profit agencies allocated specifically to address applications from Peel Region’s food banks. Funding will support formal and informal food banks and will assist with their unbudgeted operational costs and capital requirements. Pooling capital funding requests are encouraged among food banks. Capital funding priority will be provided to food banks with the greatest reach.
Food banks currently eligible for Community Investment Program funding will be considered through an application process that meets the principles of accountability, transparency, openness, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Any remaining funds will be disbursed to limited community organizations supporting food insecurity including food pantries, community meal programs, community gardens, and emergency assistance programs.
Funding: up to 20% of an agency’s total revenue to a maximum of $500,000
Deadline: March 17, 2022, by 5:00 PM
